Temengor Forest Reserve

Temengor forest tighter with Belum forest reserve was given the royal warrant by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, when he declared it the ‘Royal Belum Park’ in July 2003.

Temengor is dotted with numerous beautiful towering waterfalls accessible through steep, rugged terrain across swift rivers, on ridges used by the aborigines to collect rattan, that follow trails left by animals such as deer or elephants.

This ancient rainforest is a home for vast populations of animals and plants. There are over 3000 species of plants in the forest including many medicinal plants and herbs, commonly used by the aborigines to make unto lotions and potions to cure sickness, for health nutrients and even as aphrodisiac.

Scientific studies showed that this primeval forest remains one of the largest untouched forest reserves in Malaysia. The forest is particularly rich in fruit trees such as rambutans, mangoes, jackfruits, wild lemons and figs.

It was estimated that forest to be around 130 million years old.
