This narrow, long lake stretches for 0.2 mile from east to west and lies in the shadow of majestic Hallett Peak. It is a wonderful, scenic family destination and a great place for a summer picnic.
The mythical, dreamlike stetting with magnificent mountain scenery no doubt inspired the name.
It is also to thought to be the most photographed lake in the park, especially since it marks a good turnaround point for many hikers, particularly those with small children.
Hikers on the trail to Dream Kale will pass though a group of limber pine in the midst of a spruce fir forest. Here the pine have colonized a rocky ridge.
Limber pine often takes on a stunted krummholz form in windy areas and near timberline, growing very picturesque, wind twisted branched and trunks.
